OBAMA CAN'T WIN IN NOVEMBER

# 1. 5/12/08 10:42 PM by King Maker
Obama CAN win if he has the right running mate.

Clinton CAN win if she has the right running mate.

So what's the more electable ticket?

Obama-Clinton

or

Clinton-Obama

Editor's Note: if they run together, they probably would win.

# 2. 5/13/08 12:02 AM
thumbsup.gif I will never vote for a racist, therefore I will never vote for Barak Obama.

# 3. 5/13/08 12:09 AM
From your lips to God's ear, is all I can say.

# 4. 5/13/08 12:26 AM by Zzyzx - Sandy UT
Maybe.

I'd like to think your assessment is correct. But many (myself included) cannot stomach voting for any of them. And his supporters are the most motivated of any of the candidates'.

Like I said, I hope you're right.

# 5. 5/13/08 12:27 AM
thumbsup.gif He exhibits racism and bigotry in their crudest forms. It's a shame, because if he weren't such a bigot, I would vote for him. His agenda is a welfare state for his true constituency. At the expense of the hard working middle class, regardless of the rainbow of colors it is comprised of. He represents evil, not good. Adolf Hitler exposed his true plans years ahead of gaining power. Just like Barack. I honestly believe Obama's main goal is to enslave the middle class as reparation for black slavery in the past. The enslavement may not be literal and physical, but financial in nature. He talks a good talk, and the sheep seem to follow. Just like Hitler...

# 6. 5/13/08 12:28 AM by chris - Highland, UT
I can't believe that party leadership or dem's in general are this dumb. You have to wonder why McCain is going to be handed the nomination?

Obama cannot win, he cannont win swing states. He could possibly come out as victor in the popular vote but he will never be able to win the key states he needs in order to be our next president.

If the dem's decide on Hilary the party will be divided and it would be much worse. Way to go dem's you just ensured another republican white house for 4 more years.

# 7. 5/13/08 12:35 AM by jerry - geneseo ny
thumbsup.gif I hope your right Bob, it's pathetic that this guy is still around. He won't wear a flag pin, won't acknowledge the National Anthem, his pastor is an American hater/racist, and this man might become our president? What have we become? I'm worried about my kids futures.

# 8. 5/13/08 12:55 AM by SGM - Utah
thumbsup.gif I believe you are right on the issues. As I read, watch, and listen to various programs about Obama, I have to question how this guy got to where he is today.

When I first heard of him, my first reaction/question was, "where did this guy come from?" Out of nowhere to become a Presidential candidate and nobody knows anything about him. Tonite I watched a clip about the Chicago political machine. The people reporting say Obama is a product of that machine and it doesn't matter if the candidate is Republican or Democrat. In my years of observation, Chicago politics has deep roots to corruption.

Could we be in the last days? Days of plentiful oil, food, etc., but no one can afford the sky high prices. People could be starving to death, not because of a shortage of food, but because they can't afford it. And then I see a female Senator from Kansas saying that congress is going to look into the matter. Well sister, you should have looked in to the matter months, even years ago. America is going to hell and I don't think Congress has the will to fix the problems they created.

Sorry, I got off subject, but somehow I think they are inter-related.

# 9. 5/13/08 1:08 AM by Paul Martin - Rochester, New York
Bob, I'm voting for McCain also. I pray (which I never thought I would ever say) that Hillary gets the nomination and runs for President. If Obama runs and by some curse on this nation, he wins, this country is going to be in grave danger. More that it has ever been before in history.

# 10. 5/13/08 1:37 AM
OBAMA CAN'T WIN IN NOVEMBER.

So what are you worried about?

# 11. 5/13/08 1:38 AM by jolene - sandy,utah
thumbsup.gif I just hope you are right. INSANITY: Doing the SAME thing over and over and expecting DIFFERENT results. I pray Obama supporters come to their senses.

# 12. 5/13/08 2:22 AM by Brain-dead liberal - let's go with Berkeley, CA
thumbsdown.gif Even though you're from a small town, and you're bitter, which explains why you cling to guns, religion and antipathy towards people who aren't like you, I've got a simple defense of Obama that is a never-lose comeback in the eyes of the mainstream media: you're a racist.

So no matter how competently you explain your position, no matter how accurately you demonstrate Mr. Obama's duplicative demeanor, no matter how many facts you lay out, there is only one fact that matters:

WE'RE BETTER AT DEMAGOGUERY THAN YOU'LL EVER BE ROBERT.

So rather than actually responding in an honest and straightforward manner to the legitimate issues you raise about our Marxist dark-horse candidate who also happens to be the media darling of moderation, transcension, and all things good and proper; we'll avoid it by just calling you a racist.

If you're black, we'll call you a puppet of racists (as well as Uncle Tom when the microphone's on mute).

It comes down to us elites knowing what's best for us by telling you what's best for you.

And the most realistic expectation is not productive discourse, but a false assertion that we don't have to respond to you because we are better than you. We have all sorts of code words to demonize anyone who dares contradict our manufactured record of Obama's merits.

We can demonize people who live in McMansions and drive SUVs because we live in real Mansions and have taxpayers buy, fuel, and chauffer our bigger SUVs.

And airlines are evil, that's why we wouldn't dare fly anything less than a Gulfstream IV (maybe a Gulfstream III if the market's doing well and hence our hedge funds are doing poorly).

And corporations are evil, that's why we extort them from our insulated positions within the non-profit sector which pay us more than most corporate executives.

And all taxes are just alms for the poor, you know, to make things fair. Obama's so generous he gave less than 1% of his multi-million dollar income to charity...and by charity, I mean Jeremiah Wright's 10,000 square foot house in a gated community on a golf course...the fact that it's 93% white only further demonstrates our ability to transcend race yet again. You can play 9 holes at the municipal with the rest of the proles.

So even though Obama and his wife obtained a top-notch private education using public funds, you once again demonstrate the consequences of being dumbed down by the public education system, further cementing our proper place in the world (because, the United States is just so pase).

Enjoy your nonexistent Social Security and the newly doubled Capital Gains rate, that ought to keep you in your place.

# 13. 5/13/08 2:32 AM
I wont forgive him for not wearing a flag pin, and NOT saluting the flag ( hand on heart ), during National Anthem.

Who the heck does he think he is????

And his elementary school education is nothing to write home about either.

# 14. 5/13/08 2:55 AM by Che Guevara's bleached white bones - Cuba de la Norte , Utah
When Obama is defeated the world will tell us we are racist's & this was proof.

I'm sorry that the first viable black presidential candidate was not of the Thomas Sowell/Robert Williams variety, instead of a left wing MORON !

Hillary, GAG! Would have been a wiser choice for the Dems.

Boy, has it been a thrill watching these two horribe losers duke it out!

The Dems have cut their own throats.

Gotta love it Bay-Bayyyyy!

# 15. 5/13/08 4:10 AM
His struggle to understand what was offensive about his San Francisco remarks shows how foreign most of this country is to him and how condescending he is.

# 16. 5/13/08 6:00 AM by Matt - Dansville
Wishful thinking. It's a Democratic year, and McCain, while smarter than Bush, differs little policy wise. Obama will win with at least 325 electoral votes. Sizable gains in the Senate and House as well.

# 17. 5/13/08 6:22 AM by Jim Phalen - Rochester, NY
Living in New York this is basically an academic exercise but using the same "comfort factor" you describe that minimizes Obama's chances I have a problem with McCain. He is simply not conservative, despite his recent conversion. If Barr gets in the race I welcome him as a spoiler. I'd rather have Obama the liberal as President and get a full airing of the consequences for four or eight years than have Hillary or McCain trying to reach consensus and compromise and continuing the more gradual, but definitely socialist, course we are on.

# 18. 5/13/08 6:27 AM by Rick G. - Spencerport, NY
I never thought Bush would win for a second term, but you can never underestimate the voting public. We just love our Presidents in giant belt buckles and cowboy boots.

Let's be honest about one thing: McCain is not the ideal Republican choice. Once Obama cements his nomination, you'll see a totally different campaign. People will jump on board the Obama train.

McCain's best hope is to publicly declare that he will be a 4-year President. He will also have to pick an electable, kick-ass VP. If McCain wins, we'll be electing his VP. This would be the first proactive election.

All Obama has to do is stop saying things that need explaining, which may actually be the harder thing to do. If he can manage that, he'll squeak out a win.

Since this is more or less a Conservative-Republican forum, the opinion surely will be that McCain will win by a landslide. I think that's naive.

It's going to be an interesting race, but I don't think anyone can honestly say that it's going to be a shoe-in for either candidate.

# 19. 5/13/08 6:39 AM by hunter - e. bethany, ny
thumbsup.gif If Senator Obama's negatives truly add up to a win for Senator McCain, then why not let the Democrats settle on him as their presidential candidate for 2008.

It seems like Republicans can hold their nose and vote for Mr. McCain, then why not Dems following suit and cast their ballot for BHO.

Remember, my prediction was HRC/BHC v. McCain/Romney.

# 20. 5/13/08 6:45 AM by tv - Rochester, ny
thumbsdown.gif You wish he couldn't win in November! Morons who think that patriotism is defined by wearing a flag lapel pin might not vote for him, idiot talk-show hosts may attempt to keep him from being on the ballot by using illegal tactics will continue their immoral acts. It isn't working. Heck, even redneck podunk bloggers write columns about Obama not being electable, but he continues to gain momentum, and continues to gain more ground more quickly than any democrat in primary history.

Remember 1992? Bill Clinton didn't get on the Democratic ticket until June. How did that turn out?

Continue to write your wishful thinking posts, but I hope you are willing to write with your foot in your mouth in November.

Editor's Note: though, did you notice that this week your fawning obama started ending his speeches with "god bless america" and yesterday he -- for the first time ever -- wore a flag pin. he's a good pretender, if somewhat late.

# 21. 5/13/08 6:50 AM by Dave - Rochester, NY
thumbsup.gif Agreed completely. I consider myself to be a moderate, and in a race between Clinton and McCain, I probably wouldn't make my decision until after the debate season. Obama's too far out there for me to want him in the White House. His tendency to make stupid comments (the "bitter" comment, 57 states, invading Pakistan) doesn't help either.

# 22. 5/13/08 6:56 AM
Obama will get the magic carpet ride from the news media while McCain will be hounded for the war. relentlessly. Don't forget also white liberals that vote for image not substance. They like Obamas image and will also improve their own "self image" (in their own minds) by voting for a black for President. At any rate watching HillBill melt like the wicked witch of the west is too much fun !

# 23. 5/13/08 7:03 AM by Brian
Well, it's not like Hillary has sealed the deal within her own party, either. Both of them are struggling to get the nod. Pretty much what you said about Obama applies to Clinton, too.

Never underestimate the power of some people, particularly in the GOP, to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory; McCain certainly could lose to either Obama or Clinton.

No matter who wins the election, We the People will lose. None of the candidates would truly work in America's best interests.

# 24. 5/13/08 7:07 AM by jaymor
Sorry, Bob. Obama will defeat McCain. On the two foremost issues, the economy and Iraq, McCain carries considerable baggage. He has stated that the economy isn't his "strong suit" and is identified with an administration that has presided over a faltering economy. A majority of the electorate wants an early exit from Iraq, a stance which clearly favors Obama.

In the debates, a charismatic, articulate Obama will easily outdistance an aging, tentative McCain. Add the probability that a meaningful portion of the GOP 's conservative base will sit this one out and you have Obama in the White House come January.

Editor's Note: keep dreaming

# 25. 5/13/08 7:12 AM by Dave H - Rochester, NY
thumbsup.gif Bob: With only Blacks and Idiots supporting Obama, his chances are at best even. And that's if team Billary performs a 360,drops out, tunes in, and turns on to Obama as the second coming;and of course McCain must become comatose-totally.It would also require most white men to dissappear. My question:What if anything would cause the wannabe king makers of the media, and the eggheads in academia to disown this bum? Dave

# 26. 5/13/08 7:18 AM by C - Rochester
Morning Bob. You hit the nail on the head. Obamma is a fraud. He hates America and white people. How could anyone vote for him???? Everyone complains about taxes now, Imagine what they'd say if he got into office?

# 27. 5/13/08 7:23 AM by Katie J
Have you noticed that big names in the Democratic party are starting to publicly talk about Hillary dropping out of the race? The buzzword is "unity" - listen for it, because you'll be hearing more and more of it.

Since they essentially threw her under the Obama bus, I doubt she feels she owes them anything now.

# 28. 5/13/08 7:23 AM by Me - Palmyra, NY
" A candidate who can't win over his own party certainly can't win over the country."

Sooo.... where does this leave McCain?

Editor's Note: it leaves him having won the republican nomination months ago

# 29. 5/13/08 7:24 AM by Marie
Mr. Lonsberry:

Don't you think that Ron Paul and Bob Barr will take enough discontented Republican's votes away and give the election to Obama? I am not happy with McCain, and I don't know anyone who is. But I will vote for him.

Editor's Note: neither paul nor barr will get enough votes to staff a decent-sized quincinera, amigo.

# 30. 5/13/08 7:26 AM
He's not electable, and that is VERY good news for the Republicans.

Some poll or other showed that most Hillary supporters wouldn't vote for him, and vice versa. So if they stay home, or vote Republican, we're in.

However, if Hillary and Obama team up, we could be screwed three ways from Sunday.

Editor's Note: agreed. thankfully, michelle obama's white-hot hatred for hillary will probably shoot down any talk of that dream ticket.

# 31. 5/13/08 7:27 AM by FGF - Rochester
Did you notice how when John McCain's wife stated that she would 'never' release her tax returns the media did not respond? She is reportedly worth over 100 million dollars. Her tax returns need to be released to see if there is any income which may have been obtained because of her husbands political connections.Remember how this story played out with Geraldine Ferraro's husband? I believe the media is saving this story for the general election, perhaps the October surprise.

Editor's Note: her tax returns are none of your business or mine.

# 32. 5/13/08 7:31 AM
Not only will Obama win he will win with a sizable mandate.

You Republicans don't get it on how detested you have become in this land. You are now the despised that you once made the "liberals".

Newt Gingrich of all people has recently said that Republicans will hear two words in November. Those words are "not you".

Besides that, John McCain himself has been acting like a Grade A flake. McCains mouth is going to damage him more than Monica's mouth damaged Bill Clinton.

We are coming up to the first year of a 50 year liberal reign in America. Thank God that the conservative con job is nearly dead. You posers are going down hard.

# 33. 5/13/08 7:35 AM by Mario - Brockport
thumbsup.gif To those of you who compare this race to 1992. There is no Ross Perot this time. He syphoned 20% of the republican vote. So dream on. That is what you are good at.

# 34. 5/13/08 7:36 AM
And WHEN he's not elected, the word "racism" will be on the lips of the media ad nauseum.

# 35. 5/13/08 7:39 AM by Dan - Gates
This coming from a guy who gave money towards Mike Huckabee's campaign. Can you get a refund ?

# 36. 5/13/08 7:43 AM
Come November, I will enjoy watching you eat crow.

That is all.

Editor's Note: lucky crow

# 37. 5/13/08 7:45 AM by Greg - Rochester, NY
thumbsdown.gif I see him winning, and winning comfortably.

It's enthusiasm Bob... People I know who were never interested in politics have registered for the primary, and voted for the first time.

If every American voted, maybe McCain wins. But on election day, Obama's folks come out in droves.

Editor's Note: i'm not sure the people you know are typical.

# 38. 5/13/08 7:45 AM by Ben Dover
I said it a long time ago and you told me I was wrong So here it goes again, America is still more racist than anyone wants to believe and will not vote a black man into the White House! There I said it and it and come November it will prove I was right all along. You can use all of the excuses you want but when it comes down to it racism is the only reason Obama will lose and for the record America is not ready for a woman President either so the Democrats have set themselves up for a loss no matter who wins the nomination. I told you you will see more red states on the election map then you've seen since Reagan.

I'm seldom wrong!

# 39. 5/13/08 7:47 AM by Steve - Livonia
Maybe Obama can't win, but I wouldn't discount the potential for McCain to lose.

# 40. 5/13/08 7:50 AM
I'm starting to think Hillary is staying in the race to secure the VP position because she knows she would only be a bullet away from the presidency!

# 41. 5/13/08 7:53 AM
Atta boy, keep yer chin up. Go learn some of the old negro field songs they sung during their slave years because you Republicans are gonna be in some very hard times for the next few decades.

Swing lo, sweet chairrrriiot.....

# 42. 5/13/08 7:56 AM by mitch - garland ut
We can hope.

My problem has been and remains that there is no one who even remotely represents the folks who are pro-America, anti-illegal immigrant, win the war, use our own resources, spend within our means conservative! I cannot and will not vote for those who are left to us! Principle MUST stand for more than party, race or gender. The Founders knew that, we must acknowledge that.

God bless America, please...

# 43. 5/13/08 8:11 AM
Who gives a rats ass?

I'm more concerned about this December 21st, 2012 date!

# 44. 5/13/08 8:12 AM
Hillary Clinton wouldn't be bad looking if she had a nice face and a nice body!

# 45. 5/13/08 8:14 AM
I'm waiting for Barrack to tear off his mask like in the show Mission Impossible and Bin Laden to pop out!

How the H E Double Toothepicks did America ever get to this point! Oh yeah, that"s right, "I did not have sex with that woman". A true turning point in American history.

# 47. 5/13/08 8:21 AM
If you go into a restaurant and get crappy service, it's because the restaurant has crappy service.

Unless you're black.

Then, if you go into a restaurant and get crappy service, it's because you're black.

Obama won't be elected because he's a crappy candidate. But because he's a BLACK crappy candidate, we will hear that he wasn't elected because he's black.

# 48. 5/13/08 8:23 AM
Don't rule out a Ralph Nader upset!

# 49. 5/13/08 8:25 AM by Keith - Brockport,NY
To those of you who compare this race to 1992. There is no Ross Perot this time. He syphoned 20% of the republican vote. So dream on. That is what you are good at.

There's a Bob Barr who will get plenty of financial help from the left just as Ralph Nader did from the right. Barr only needs to siphon off a couple of per cent to cost McCain the election. In fact, I'm going to send him a few bucks today just to get him started. He's right on Iraq, the Constitution and the economy.

# 50. 5/13/08 8:31 AM
America is no longer #1. I doubt we're even in the top five. We need a president who can begin to take us out of this mire we’ve been stuck in. Somebody who can bring us back to a point where we either stop having our asses handed to us by China, Japan, India, Brazil, Germany and just about every other industrial country or we move on and rebuild.

We need is a new beginning. We need a leader who will start to look at America not as the leader of the free world, but as a major player in the free world. A part of the whole, not the paper tiger who thinks they run the show. It’s hard to admit that you’re not king anymore, but once that’s done and once the ego is put aside, we can start to rebuild this country. It won’t happen in our lifetime, but maybe someday the United States of America will once again be great and respected, not laughed at like the high school athlete who got fat.

None of the candidates has the vision to see this. If we think Obama is arrogant, we haven’t looked in the mirror in a while. He’s nothing more than a reflection of what the United States has become – all show and no substance.
