SARAH PALIN IS A FLAKE AND A QUITTER

Sarah Palin is stupid...like a fox.
If you think that hanging around in some remote frozen nature's wildlife sanctuary like Alaska for the next 3 years is the best way to raise your national profile for 2012 then you're not as bright as you have fooled some people into thinking you are.
Sarah Palin now has 3 years of touring around the lower 48 making lucrative speeches and appearances that will propel her into the Republican nomination.
Having the office of a US state gov was necessary to be introduced onto the national stage. But treading water there for 3 more ice cold years would have been her undoing.

my opinion: Sarah Palin has screwed herself in a big way. In a political big way. None of it made any sense. She looked and sounded like a stepford wife. I have a saying that I go by: "put your big girl panties on and deal with it".....I wish her the best in future endeavors however, I think she's made a HUGE mistake if she ever hopes to be taken serious again.

Sara who? Mitt Romney 2012! I totally sure he could have helped a lot more the economy than Obama's "yes we can" team.
# 5. 7/6/09 1:20 AM by W Ross - Rucson, AZ
Sarah Palin has had enough of the media tearing her to pieces. She doesn't need it any more. And she sees no letup. That's why she quit. Plus, she wants to spend some time with her husband and family. It's a mystery why you couldn't see that.
From almost day one, the media hated Palin's guts because she seemed to have alotta promise and potential for the Republican party. It looked like she and McCain were about to defeat the media golden boy, The Messiah, B. Hussein Obama. And they could have, had the media been halfway fair. But no, they had to beat her up. They bludgeoned her. And still do.
Contrast that with Obama. He had many a gaff during the election, and since, as serious as any of Palin's. But the media let him slide unscathed. And they are still doing it.
No politician can take continued slamming that Palin got. So she hung it up.
And the David Letterman comment took the cake. He shoulda been fired like Imus (where is Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson when you need them?)
Editor's Note: only two words that matter: "she quit."
# 6. 7/6/09 1:39 AM by Hef
Forget about her political career, I hope she poses for Playboy. She could show off her guns. I could really scope her out then. She can pull my trigger anytime. I"ll bet she has a nice double barrel.

When I heard this news, I became very glad that there's two or three years left before we Republicans have to choose a nominee. Because frankly, right now, things just look sucky.
Editor's Note: mega sucky

I hope you are wrong because she is the best the republicans have. Every Republican who was on the news saying she made a huge mistake are the same people who ruined the republican party.
Editor's Note: she is by no means the best the republicans had.

I don't agree with you at all.
1) Alaska is Nowheresville when it comes to politics. 2) She's now the target of every Tom, Dick, and Nanook with an axe to grind. 3)The anonymity and dawn-to-dusk hassles are compounded by sucky pay. 4) Any politician anywhere who is just putting in time ought to quit.
Meanwhile, on the Sarah Palin issue, you have been, and continue to be, an unwitting shill for the unholy alliance of liberals that is taking over the USA. But of course you can't see that.
You're waiting for the words you expect to hear, and when you don't hear them you get all confused. Clearly the gal has a better offer.
Possibly you are too conventional, Bob. Or perhaps your problem is a deep-seated sense of professional inferiority. You attempt to advance your credibility by parroting conventional wisdom.
Thinking outside the box, for you, is to focus on the breasts instead.
# 11. 7/6/09 3:12 AM
Bob, please delete my previous response.
Firstly, I should have said "unwitting dupe" rather than "unwitting shill."
Secondly, The last sentence was inappropriate and inaccurate.

She was plucked from obscurity as a Hail Mary by a team of GOP leaders who lost the fight before it even began. The worst part is that we all fell for it. We were sucked in by the folksy charm and a great set of pins. In hindsight, this is making Tina Fey look like a freaking genius.
I’m no Nostradamus, but here’s what I predict: A talk show on FOX for Ms. Palin and a spike in registrations for the Libertarian party.
# 16. 7/6/09 6:27 AM by Rick - Rochester,NY 14610
I was hoping to see Tina Fey do an Encore on SNL doing Palin! Please Stay Tuned!!
# 17. 7/6/09 6:28 AM
I think Sarah Palin decided not to gamble with her future and to grab all the cash she could before her 15 minutes of fame ran out.
I think she knew that she would probably not win the GOP primary for 2012 and that she could flame out and be sent back to nowhere with nothing.
Her speaking fee is $100k. She has solid support from the GOP base even with dumb moves like this. Rumors are that she is being offered many very lucrative deals that can amount to $10 million. Her book deal with Rupert Murdock is worth millions alone.
I say she is doing exactly what she said in her speech that she wwasn't going to do, "milk it".
I do feel for conservatives seeing another one of their shining stars turn out to be either a dumbass or a fraud. In just a few weeks we've seen 2 of the GOP's top prospects, Mark Sanford and Sarah Palin blow up.
That's gotta hurt.
Blaming it on the Democrat media is lame. The GOP media with Limbaugh et al do the same thing to all Democrats 24/7.
Editor's Note: unless she is indicted sometime soon, i think you're right.

I wonder what McCain is thinking now? I know!! What The Heck Did I do!
# 19. 7/6/09 6:34 AM
What an embarrassment. You guys should be ashamed for buying into this broad's hype. It's going to be decades before a Republican gets back in the white house. Bobby Jindal? At least Palin has nicer tits. The GOP is doomed.
# 20. 7/6/09 6:56 AM by Grandma Taxpayer
Sarah Palin is a wing nut. McCain's run for President was sunk the moment he picked her for a running mate.
# 21. 7/6/09 7:32 AM by david - rochester
Who says she's running for anything in 2012? It's possible that she values the integrity of her family more than the cut-throat political arena that she found on the national stage. After a year of defending family and self from a malicious media and spending countless hours distracted from what service she endeavored to do, I might be dis-illusioned and quit as well. Her normal husband probably encouraged her and I don't blame him. The Republicans have lost a promising up and comer because they didn't watch out for their own. Lately, they never do. And you, Mr. Lonsberry would do well to stop flipping off people when they don't do your bidding. You sir, are a flip-flopper. Frankly, I'm proud that Sarah Palin had the fortitude to tell everyone to go to H-E-double-toothpicks, and get on with her life. If she ever runs for office again, I'll write a retraction. Until then...right on, Sarah Palin.
Editor's Note: too bad she's not the sort of person who keeps her promises. you run for an office, you fill that office.
# 22. 7/6/09 7:32 AM by ex-pansy
I won't go as far as you did in your comments, but I saw the speech and was very disappointed in it. I understand not re-upping for elective office, but, resigning this soon? All I can think of is that she, or someone in her family just found out that they have cancer, or something. I was watching it and the song "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" started ricocheting through my brain.
I hope that she is being "crazy like a fox" crazy, but it sounds like no one will know much for a few weeks. I believe that she is doing this for someone elses good...either her family's, or Alaska's. I'm having a hard time believing that she would choose to do this on her own.

Bob, You've been mind-controlled by the drive-by's. My take: she announced this during a time when people are busy with the holiday. Smart move. Now, the money making touring. Then the White House. Like an earlier post - dumb like a fox :) I'll save this article.
Editor's Note: good. i'll be expecting your apology. and the statement is "crazy like a fox," not "dumb like a fox," you moron.

Bob, I am a union card-carrying liberal who loves the most recent Woody Allen movie. That said, I cannot start my day without reading your column, as you are an excellent writer and commentator on life. Once again, I appreciate and admire your integrity. I agree with today's post 100%. Sarah Palin cares only about what's good for Sarah Palin. She wants to be a celebrity, not a public servant. Cutting and running like she is doing is downright unethical. Your party is better off converting her to an Ann Coulter-like pundit vs. considering her for a national post.
# 26. 7/6/09 8:06 AM
McCain proved he was senile when he picked her. Also, they hang lower every year but they get bigger too. That makes "Little Richard" look even smaller dangling there in the wind...

If every politician quit at this point, like Mrs. Palin, it would be a great start. Replace them all with honest ethical people who don't buy their ways in and don't sell out to special interests of corporations. The whole system needs to quit.

After all the personal attacks from the liberal media, the frivolous legal actions brought against her by liberal attack dogs (reportedly costing her millions $$)and being left to twist in the wind by the Republican party, who could blame her for saying "To H*ll with it!" and getting out.
The liberal press was allowed to make a mockery of the Palin's 'Downs' child. The Liberal entertainment machine was encouraged to attack her and her children. During the election the democrats attacked everything from her hair style to he accent to her clothing and McSame was too busy adjusting his depends to defend her. It seems that he as well as the democrats was terrified of her and the possibilities she represented.
Nobody. No Republican; No conservative; No so called pundit; No talk show host ( big or small) stood with her while she endured the type of political and personal assassination that is usually reserved for dictators and communists.
So good for her. She stood strong for as long as she could and held the banner or Republicanism / Conservativism high while none of you stood with her. I hope she takes the money ( if there is any) and runs.
She earned it.
# 30. 7/6/09 8:42 AM by Rick
More than anything, it makes me sad. She'd seemed so refreshing. She never got a fair shake from the party big-wigs, as if they wanted her (and, actually, the party as a whole) to fail. And most of the public's and media's perception of her was Tina Fey's caricature, not the woman herself. I hope she gets her act together and has a good life doing whatever she does; it certainly won't be in the national Republican scene after this episode.
And too much MJ, enough already!

Just because you don't know God's plans for Sarah Palin doesn't mean He doesn't have any.
Sarah Palin doesn't give a rip what the media thinks.
She doesn't give a rip what you think, either.
Editor's Note: i know glenn beck is saying that she is waiting to learn god's plan for her, and i wish them all the best with that, but i think if god wants me to vote for her, he'll tell me, not her. i also think that she swore to god she'd serve when she was sworn in.

Hey Bob-
Sorry buddy, can't agree with you on this one. This move takes her out of the "target zone" and lets her move into the "campaigning/money making zone".
She went to little Auburn NY and 20,000 showed up. She can draw a crowd my friend. She can get people pumped. And, if she plays her cards right she could be our next pres.
Hey, if a senator with little to no experience in running anything, other than his mouth, can do it... why not her?
By the way...the "Tea Party" last friday at Ontario county beach was a big success. Over 1200 showed up. Even though it was not even covered on any news outlet, not even your show. Too bad.

The notion of her being a true conservative and honest excited me. I too was impressed at first. But when it became obvious she was not “one of us,” (the $150 Thousand in clothes, etc., Government sponsored trips for her kids,…) I couldn’t vote for McCain’t candidacy. I did a write-in. The woman is a true hypocrite. Her rhetoric is conservative but her behavior, her actions were-- take the perks like all the rest of the corrupt politicians. To me, it is unbelievable that McCain would pick such a shallow candidate. There were others who would have been better running mates. After this debacle, I lost all respect for McCain as well. I don’t believe this woman will ever be accepted again in national politics. It’s too bad she didn’t give herself a chance for more experience before jumping in. I believe she has potential. But as long as she appears duplicitous, she will never make it on the national scene.
# 36. 7/6/09 9:07 AM by Fairport mom
Maybe I'm wrong, but my philosophy is that whatever I do I take the consequences for. No whining, no complaints, no problem. But when I do something that will have a negative impact on my kids - I don't do it. She took a beating and kept on going, but of late her kids have been taking a beating (thanks a lot, slimy press). Under those circumstances, I would have quit, too. This isn't about not taking her own personal heat. This is about a mama bear protecting her cubs.
# 37. 7/6/09 9:13 AM by Dan - Baltimore, MD
So, Bob you think it is better for a politician to get paid to fill a position they are not actually working in? When McCain, Obama and Hillary Clinton spent all of 2007 and 2008 campaigning for president while getting paid to serve as Senators for their respective states that is ok? I'll take the quitter over the freeloader but I suppose you think otherwise.
# 38. 7/6/09 9:14 AM by jolene - Sandy, Utah
PLEEEZE...................Sarah Palin knew exactly how rough the political and public nonsense of today would be. If stupid David Letterman can shake you up then I don't need you as President. and...BTW SHE brought attention to herself in that regard by allowing her daughter Bristol to cover the front of People magazine talking about "I'll handle this" and becoming a ridiculous spokesman for being an unwed mother.
# 39. 7/6/09 9:19 AM by Windowlicker
Bob maybe it has something to do with the 18 frivolous lawsuits filed against her by the surrender monkeys formally known as the liberals costing her $100,000's in personal legal fees. Never has a politician been dumped on as much by the left targeting her children at every turn. Maybe genius she thought being a mother was more important and I don't blame her.

Well I certainly agree, but without real people to advance the republican (conservative) ideals that can handle the constant demonizing and rise above, where are we? Right now conservatives in NY mostly hide out in the out lieing towns away from the big bad city, anyone who is conservative in the city keeps a low profile and keeps their mouth shut, probably a lot like a pro western soviet citizen. Every day a new law gets passed to limit or remove our freedoms, the Constitution is spat upon or deemed to be some ancient relic from a simpler more ignorant time. For the most part the people who run this country are phony power hungrey self servering morons who have no idea what this country was about and further more couldnt care less. Sarah Palin was a false god who gave a good speech and for a few minutes conservatives in this country got to play make believe. But the next day the party is over, your head is pounding, the female laying next to you in bed looks a lot more like a bar hag then you remember last night so you grab your pants and go back into hiding, hoping like hell you didnt give her your real phone number....but enough about my week end.
# 45. 7/6/09 9:48 AM
There is a small problem with your decent take on Palin’s latest foray into the popular consciousness: you still want to blame the ‘democrat news media’ for much of Palin’s negative image. & then you go on to say that it’s ‘the people’ who will determine the future of the Republican Party. No, it wasn’t ‘the people’ who chose Palin to be a party leader in the first place last summer; it was the Republican party bosses; then it was the Republican talking heads – Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. who elevated her to superstar status.
And by the way, your definition of the Republican Party looks very much like a reasonable definition of the Democratic Party as well. You can’t just claim “a collection of values living in the hearts of the types of people who made this country strong and free” or “the living commitment in the American people to the values of the Founders of our nation and the Framers of our Constitution” as the sole domain of the Republican Party – these American values belong to Democrats as well as Republicans. This is the poison of those who think of themselves as being more patriotic than those who disagree with them on some issues. This is the heart of being un-American.
What Palin’s fans liked about what her “great” speech contained was the cute lines like “lipstick on a pit bull” and the appealing but vacuous ‘thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere’; most people soon realized there was nothing more to her after that. Hopefully she will now just go away. But somehow I doubt that’s what she has in mind.
After all, she is tenacious like a pit bull (with lipstick).

Bob,
You half claim to be Christian, (and no, you are not going to hell; even satan don't want a Laodicean like you with him in the lake of fire) yet you cry foul because this lady quits!
This scripture comes to mind:
Matthew 7:6, "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."
I am not saying that Palin is doing something Holy with this unorthodox move but I pray that she gets out of politics for good and goes on to make as much money to support her family as as she can. I would love to have a wife like this, she has balls and I for one applaud her!
Screw you, politics, the imitation anti-christ Hussein Obama, the news media, and everything else.
Good for you Sara Palin.............God Bless You......
Editor's Note: she made a promise to the people of alaska and broke it. end of story.
# 47. 7/6/09 9:56 AM by Dan - Baltimore, MD
Bob, if you get past your jilted Palin lust you will see there is just one reason for her to stay as governor and 99 reasons for her to move on. And the longer she stays as governor the more hits she will take from the national media with little recourse to fight back. Before shooting your mouth off you might want to do what you usually do best, which is to walk a mile in the other person's shoes and have a little empathy. Why is it honorable for a politician to use their current office to run for another office but less so for a politician to quit? I would think it would be more honorable for a politician to quit and not steal taxpayer money feigning to do a job they have little interest in doing.
# 48. 7/6/09 10:08 AM
Hey Rick G - correction - we didn't ALL fall for it (Palin's shallow appeal). She was and still is stupid, ignorant and cute, on some weird church-lady level. And a total embarrassment to our country, when you think of her as one of our leaders (yikes!!)

At this point, should John and Sarah been elected, John would have stepped down for health reasons and Sarah would have escalated the war in Iraq, while making threatening pronouncements toward Iran. At which time Iran would have re-invaded Saudi Arabia.
The she would have quit, to save the country the cost of the investigations into the reasons why her husband and the Wasilla construction company were awarded no-bid contracts for the re-construction of war torn Saudi Arabia.
Face it folks, she may be attractive (in a flirtatious, sexy way) but there is no substance to the pastry. All sugar, but nothing that will stick with you, or be good for you in the long run.
